Sri Badrnathji is one of the Four Dhams and is situated at an elevation of 3,133 metres guarded on wither side by the two mountain ranges known as Nar and Narayan with the towering Neelkanth Peak providing a splendid back drop. This revered spot was once carpeted with wild berries wit gave it the name Badri Van meaning Forest of Berries. Facing the temple at the bank of the Alaknanda river there is a hot water spring known as Tapt Kund. The temple opens every year in the month of April - May and closes in winter in the third week of November.
